ZANTEL DONATES TO BOMB VICTIMS

 

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Zantel today made a donation of clean drinking water as an immediate response to the victims of the Gongo la Mboto bombings.


The donation was presented to the Ilala District Officials who are incharge of handling the situation.

 

Handling the distaster victims currently based at the Uhuru stadium in Dar es Salaam, Zantel's Ag. Marketing Director Brian Karokola presented the donation on behalf of Zantel staff saying the donation is part of Tsh 20 million set aside by the company to donate towards this disaster. "This is a national disaster and we felt obligated to come and assist our fellow countrymen. We have set aside Tsh 20 million towards this initiative and we will be bringing more foodstuffs, beddings and clothes and present them to the affected families. " Said Mr. Karokola.

 

Zantel staff too have been mobilized to donate more items that they will personally hand over to the affected families on Friday.


ZANTEL DONATES MOSQUITO NETS TO WOMEN AND CHILDREN

Zantel, through its ongoing promotion of Hamisi ma SMS today handed out 100 mosquito nets to the Mwananyamala Hospital in Dar es Salaam. The nets worth TSH 500,000 was presented to the hospital's management by Hamisi ma SMS aka Mzee wa Kutoa Cheda as part of his ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Hamisi ma SMS has been touring the country giving away various prizes as well as making donations to various homes and institutions that take care of the less fortunate.

Hamisi ma SMS said he decided to donate mosquito nets as he was touched by the plight of women and children in fighting malaria. "I support the government's call to prevent and eradicate malaria and as part of my ongoing initiatives to give back to the community I decided to bring mosquito nets to Mwananyamala hospital to be distributed to the children and women's wards. This is a beginning and I will offer more support in the coming days."

Mwananyamala Deputy Chief Doctor Sophinias Ngonyani thanked Hamisi on behalf of the hospital's management for his generous donation. "Hamisi's gesture today to donate mosquito nets for the children's and women's wards at our hospital is a great thing and it will go a long way in the fight against malaria."

 

 


ZANTEL HOLDS NEW YEAR PARTY FOR ORPHANS

The New Year started well for children from Kerege Matumbi orphanage in Bagamoyo, when they were treated to a sumptuous lunch by Zantel staff as part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Brian Karokola, Ag. Marketing Director said the aim of organizing the New Year party was in continuation with the company's spirit of giving."We wanted to start the year in stride by sharing what we have with the children from Kerege home. We will be doing more of this initiatives and give back to society in conjunction with our staff and other stakeholders to ensure we help more people in the society.

Zantel has been giving away TSH 1 million daily to lucky subscribers through its ongoing promotion of Hamisi ma SMS. Hamisi himself has gone round the country meeting the people and giving away instant prizes. ZANTEL HANDS OVER WATER PIPES TO THE GOVERNMENT OF ZANZIBAR

Zanzibar, December 13, 2010: Zantel handed over water pipes, worth TSH 9 million, to the government of Zanzibar for a the completion of a water project in Bumbwisudi village in Unguja. The handing over ceremony was done by the chief Executive Officer Mr.

In hand to receive the water pipes on behalf of the Zanzibar government was the 2nd Vice President Hon. Ambassador Seif Ali Iddi and the Zanzibar Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Hon. Hamad Masoud.

The handing over event took place at the Amani Offices in Zanzibar and senior staffs present were Nahaat Mahfoudh, Mohamed Mussa, Charles Jutta and Leslie Lobow.The water pipe sponsorship is part of Zantel's efforts to support the community through provision of clean water to the residents of Bumbwisudi village.
