ZANTEL LAUNCHES GRADUATE TRAINEES PROGRAM
Zantel has launched its first graduate development program for newly recruited graduates with an interest in the telecom industry who will receive intensive, on the job training for one year. The aim of the graduate program is to recruit young, talented and ambitious Tanzanians to join the expanding Zantel family and to develop their skills and telecommunications experience.
Zantel HR Planning Director, Dermot Hanway, said the Zantel’s Graduate Program is designed to offer the graduates world class, practical work experience. “Our Graduate Trainee Program will deliver diverse intensive on the job and formal professional development with a view to developing the next generation of Tanzanian leaders and technical specialists for Zantel” said Mr. Hanway.
36 graduates out of 200 applicants succeeded in joining Zantel’s first graduate program and they are currently attached to the IT, engineering and commercial departments. The selected applicants underwent several written tests and face to face interviews before they were finally selected.
One of the graduate students working in the technical department under core network Athanasius Muhanuzi said “I am grateful to Zantel for giving me an opportunity to learn and gain experience at the same time share my ideas with the engineers to build the company and the telecom industry at large.”
“We at Zantel are very excited about the graduate program and we are keen to continue to give young Tanzanians opportunities to learn, gain experience and to contribute to the development of Tanzania’s mobile industry” added Mr. Hanway.
